Host2:Hey Bonnie! Hi Carl. How was your trip to Lunenburg on Saturday? I heard it was a beautiful day.

Host2:Hey Amy, it was OK I guess. Some highs and some lows, to be honest.

Host1:That is a good way to put it. Definitely a mixed bag.

Host2:Oh really? Why? What happened? Sounds intriguing.

Host2:Well, first of all, it was really, really foggy in the morning, so we really couldn’t see any of the great coastal views on the way there. It was just a complete whiteout for miles.

Host1:Yeah, we only saw clouds and mist for the first two hours. It didn’t really clear until we actually got there, which was a bit of a bummer.

Host2:Oh, that’s too bad. Was it any better on the way back? Or did the fog stick around?

Host2:Well no, we drove back at night, so we couldn’t see anything then either. Just endless darkness.

Host1:Once we got there though, it was okay. The town itself was charming.

Host2:Yeah, we started with the walking tour, which showed us all around historic Lunenburg. It really is a beautiful, picturesque village, full of character.

Host2:Oh, that’s wonderful! I hope you took lots and lots of pictures.

Host1:Definitely! My phone is full of them. And then we had lunch at the Downtown Shell, which was disappointing, really. We had heard so many great things, but the food was just… okay. Nothing special.

Host2:And after lunch, despite the earlier fog, we decided to go whale watching. We figured, why not?

Host2:Oh, I’m so jealous! Did you see many whales? That sounds like an amazing experience.

Host1:We did actually! It was unbelievable. The kids absolutely loved it. I think we saw at least five different kinds of whales, including some humpbacks! I couldn’t believe how big they were, just majestic.

Host2:Yeah, it was definitely the highlight of our summer, hands down. And then we came back and had supper. We tried a different restaurant this time, and thankfully, we had much better luck. The seafood was delicious.

Host2:Oh, good! So at least one meal was a winner.

Host2:After that, we decided to go to the other side of the harbour to check out the view of the entire harbour. That was a bit of a mistake though.

Host1:Yeah, the view was nice, but the kids were completely exhausted by then, so we really couldn’t enjoy it. They were just melting down. So, we just took a couple of quick pictures and then drove home. Luckily, the kids slept the entire way, so even though it was dark, at least it was quiet. A small victory.

Host2:Sounds like a long day! So, all in all, would you recommend going for a day trip?

Host2:Oh, definitely! The town itself is worth seeing. But I would probably stay the night, and try not to cram so many activities into such a short amount of time. Maybe pick one or two main things.

Host1:Agreed. Or at least make sure the kids are well-rested!
