Doctor's Appointment ESL Dialogue
A clinical consultation between a doctor and patient. Graded at CEFR B1 level to practice describing physical symptoms, health history, medical advice, and prescriptions.
Dialogue Script (2 Speakers)
s1: Good afternoon! Please come in and have a seat. What brings you in today?
s2: Hello, doctor. I've been feeling quite tired for the past two weeks, and I've had a persistent headache that won't go away.
s1: I see. Is the headache constant, or does it come and go?
s2: It mostly comes in the afternoon. It's a dull, throbbing pain behind my eyes.
s1: Have you noticed any other symptoms? Nausea, dizziness, or vision changes?
s2: A little dizziness sometimes, yes. And I haven't been sleeping well.
s1: How many hours of sleep are you getting on average?
s2: About five or six hours. I've been very stressed with work recently.
s1: That could certainly be contributing. Let me check your blood pressure. [pauses] It's slightly elevated. I'd like to run a few blood tests to rule out anything more serious.
s2: Of course, whatever you think is best.
s1: In the meantime, try to get at least seven to eight hours of sleep and reduce your caffeine intake. I'll prescribe something mild for the headaches.
s2: Thank you, doctor. When should I come back for the test results?
